James Durbin made sure to start 2012 with a blast. The rocker from American Idol’s season 10 finally got married to his longtime girlfriend Heidi Lowe on New Year’s Eve in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The wedding took place in a chapel near the redwood forest.  The news was announced by Us Weekly.
Eighty-five guests came to the wedding. Among them was the couple’s two year old son, Hunter. Durbin’s American Idol pals Stefano Langone, Haley Reinhart and Casey Abrams were also present. Hunter was the one who carried the rings.
The wedding was planned this summer while Durbin was with the American Idols Live! Tour. Although the task would have sounded complicated to anyone else, the couple somehow managed it.
“We’re having such a small wedding that it’s not this big hassle that we can’t handle. We’re planning it all ourselves,” Durbin told Us in November talking about their upcoming big day. “We don’t need a wedding planner. We’re not that crazy about it, you know. It’s not about everyone else. It’s about us, and we’re keeping that mindset.”

The fact that the ceremony took place on New Year’s Eve was not complicated for the couple either. “It doesn’t matter what day it is,” he told Us. “It’s our day.”
Durbin has another thing to be proud of in 2012. His album, Memories of a Beautiful Disaster, was released in November.
“It’s a rock record, it’s a hard rock record,” Durbin told OnTheRedCarpet.com in December. “It’s got some heavier tunes on there. I wanted to ease on in to it, just ease on in to it, little by little. Second album? Who knows what a mess of craziness that’s going to be. But for this album, I took what I loved from the music that I listen to.”
